I still remember when i started making reggaetón songs, i was totally lost! i watched and watched videos on youtube or just when there was no you tube, i listened to music and i was curious about how to do reggaeton. i always asked myself "i want to create or sing reggaeton but where do i start?".
you will not go through that from this point, point and record these 6 very important points to make a reggaetón from beginning to end. the 6 steps are simple but if you implement them in your music, it will be easier and more fun. use this article as a guide, but remember no rules!
kiss  ("keep it simple stupid")
or as I said: sys  ("soft and simple original") ...... do not steal it from me; )
assimilating that we have already decided that we want to make reggaetón, that if we want to sing, rap or both! or you just have no idea how to start. review these steps and it may give you an idea of ??where to go. well, it's time to start.

Step 1
Choose a theme for your song
choosing a song for your reggaetón song can be easy and very complicated at the same time, why? if they have already tried to choose a theme and have been thinking for hours and hours and nothing comes out ... you understand me. when this happens it is always better to leave the song for another time, do not complicate it, but I understand that the desire to make that song is not taken away they are like a pimple on your face that you do not want to go! go for a moment, do not think about the song and you will see that there are times when inspiration comes from the least expected places.
also, very many times you already have a reggaeton instrumental that makes this step much easier, because you already have melodies and rhythms to work with. one of the techniques i do in my studio is turn off the lights, put the headphones on that rec button and get lost in the beat. so you do not have anything to distract you and issues that have wanted to leave for a long time come out.
if you do not have ideas for a song here i leave you a short list of the most popular reggaeton songs.

party reggaeton (don omar style o daddy yankee
reggaetón soft reggae (style j balvin or farruko)
reggaeton street shooting (arcangel style, cosculluela, kendo kaponi, nengo flow)
reggaetón of love or desamor (style dj flex-nigga, makano, eddy lover, rakim, ken y or maluma)
you can write what you want, there are no limitations and this goes for all genres of music, always when your song has its rhythm or flow that is to stay with your mouth open. do not think too much if you have the inspiration in you, the subject will come easy.
many times also the inspiration comes to you when you are listening to a song and you repeat it and repeat it, and it stays in your mind and you think that you are inspired ... maybe it is, but i have seen and made the mistake of when i start a song, the beginning totally equal to that song i was listening to. i have also played artists or producers who tell me listen to my new song tell me what you think, and the truth is that the song they present to me is heard equal to that of daddy yankee or de la geezy or any artist that was listening.
if you make this mistake keep in mind that you are not being original or honest to your personality, and in the end you will arrive making the same song that you were listening to. so what to do when this happens to you, because first if the subject you have is good or just great the song you were listening to is going to go out of your mind and if you do not try to forget everything and be yourself, because you do not want to copy something that already exists, be someone that other artists want to copy.

Step 2
Write many ideas pencil and paper
when you are well inspired, you can easily upload ideas to your head. it is always good to have something in hand as a cell phone to record your ideas. write everything that comes to mind do not let you forget anything, maybe that was the perfect phrase you needed for a hit. you never know when your ideas will arrive, do not let them never forget you.
as i said in the previous step, go outside to walk or drive for a while, you will see that ideas will come to you without any effort. you can also ask for that help from a music producer or even in facebook or you tube, you will see that they have experience in that and they will have many ideas (not always) keep your mind open. but i know that many of you start alone in your room just like me.
this is good and bad, because for you and your ear everything will be heard well and thus you will not progress quickly. neither asking your family members or close friends for opinions is good, because they do not want to hurt your feelings, and everything you teach them will tell you that it sounds great. when in reality they are lying to you because they care about you, if you like to make music seriously ask someone to do the same and do not know it very well but really want to help you (good luck with that).
you have always heard that phrase that two heads think better than one, and in this to take ideas is very true and keep it in mind. do not try to do everything alone as i did for a good time. believe me, it's more frustration and stress than your shoulders can carry, do not break your head.
before you start recording your song make sure you like the lyrics of your song 100%. especially when you work with someone who will help you record, you do not want to see yourself as a beginner who does not know what he is doing. at this point you may edit your lyrics if you are the author, so i recommend that when you are starting, ask for opinions from someone who already knows a little or more.

Step 3
How will you sing your song
what do i mean by this? in other words, what emotion are you going to give to your song? how are you going to express those lyrics, be it sung or rap. it is very important to practice this step, record yourself on your phone so that you can listen to the flow you give to your song and return to the same opinion. for example if you are going to sing a song of sensual romanticism or something like that, you will not want to sing it screaming as if you were drowning in passion.
try to examine your lyrics and there you will see the feeling or flow that will be best for your song. most artists already have a built track and rely on the melodies and rhythm of the track to write their songs. there is nothing wrong with this, but i know that at the beginning it is difficult to get melodic ideas that remain with the track. it will always be better to work with someone as a producer / beat maker so that both things, music and lyrics, are built at the same time.
it's as if you had your own designer of clothes, the clothes are your style and your size. this is just a technique that has helped me, although i am the artist and the beat maker / producer. it's too much work for a person even if you love music, try to focus on just one section of the process, and look for another passionate person just like you.

 Step 4
Make sure you like your letter
step number four is very similar to three, only here it is checking that every second of your letter you like it. but if you start well asking for opinions then it will be easier to take this step. do not confuse being bored that it is not a good song. prince in an interview mentions that a song he was working on had already bored him while the song had not been released yet. when it was time to throw it for him he was already bored but it was a total hit.
if you do not like a part simply change it, before step number 5 ... where the fun part is that is to record your song !.

Step 5
Record voices
do not be insecure when recording your song, nor any nerves. if they feel this way it is normal but very bad because everything will be transported in your recording. unfortunately this can only be cured by practicing and with more experience, if you have an artist-level self-esteem this will not be a problem. in my case ...... .. i did not have this self-esteem.
this step will be a total challenge, especially when one begins. to facilitate this step, all the steps and tips that we have talked about in particular, practice until you learn it by heart, and do these steps you can record your song with energy or feeling that you really want to interpret.
this way you will connect with your audience and they will want to listen to it until the end, and believe me your family and friends now if you are going to love them (without lies).
also before you start recording your voices it is always good to warm up your voice, how? if you know about warm-ups and exercises do not stop doing them but in reggaetón they use a lot of auto tune to fix the voices (also me). many artists know how to sing and anyway they give it autotune to give it that robot effect.
well, a quick method of heating your voice is jumping jacks, you have 20 to 30 and this warms your body a little, if you make them very clear. another method is to do squats also about 20 to 30. if you do not want to do any of this because you will be judged crazy you probably will, ignore them and if you can not then take hot tea or hot water and this will take away the phlegm that have in your throat.

Step 6
Review, listen, edit repeat!cubase editing
in this last step you will probably already be a little bored of your own song, which is normal. try to remember that emotion you felt when writing to keep you motivated. this step is basically about reviewing everything again, again !? i know what a nuisance ... but i bet you'll find mistakes you have not heard before.

Do not exaggerate this procedure either, because that's when they start to over edit it and you end up with your song completely different. do not try to be perfect, nobody is. remember that they make music to express their emotions, connect with the public and not to make money.

There are two more steps left, call them bonus tip in the video, these are no longer your responsibility. i know that this is not the case for you, mixing producers and sound engineers should be in charge of this. i know you do it alone or maybe with someone else, anyway put your brains as producer, mixer and engineer. take it easy to finish a song requires a lot of effort! take your time you will not want to finish fast, because fast nothing goes well. (in some cases yes)

The next step would be mixing / mixing here should already be all the music and voices to perfection. here it is a matter of arranging to edit the sounds and the voices, so that each one has its own space in its corresponding frequency.

The other step is called mastering / masterizing which is mastering? it's just giving your song that strength and that level of sound so it can compete with the other songs. of course, it is much more complicated, like mixing, it takes two years of experience to do it well.

well these are all 6 steps very important i hope you help served something and have fun with the video, keep it as a guide, tell me what you need help with this process of making songs and i will gladly help you. check the store of tracks that i have in my beat store i know that they are looking for clues. i have several genres but i focus more on reggaetón so go listen to them thank you! ...

do not let anyone tell you that you can not!

keep making music! and above all…

gosa life!
